From Values to Form: Honoring Excellence at Milliken
At the intersection of innovation, craftsmanship, and shared values, Trophyology and Milliken & Company came together to reimagine recognition.
With over 160 years of pioneering excellence, Milliken continues to lead in sustainable manufacturing and material science. When they sought to elevate how they honor their employees - those who drive this legacy forward - they turned to Trophyology.
As designers who understand the power of meaningful appreciation, we collaborated closely with Milliken to create the HONORS Awards, a series of custom trophies reflecting their core values and celebrating the people shaping their future.
Tactile Storytelling: Translating Texture into Identity
A defining feature of the new Milliken HONORS Awards is the intricate laser-engraved texture. Each graphic is inspired by Milliken’s own materials and visual language.
Drawing directly from their internal design references, we laser-engraved these patterns into the solid walnut body of our Figura Trapezium Award.
The result is a tactile expression of Milliken’s identity. Each award is as layered, purposeful, and distinctive as the people it honors.
Textures of Recognition: Engraved with Intention
Each engraved pattern tells a story which is rooted in Milliken’s unique materials, processes, and visual heritage.
From industrial forms to organic fibers, these textures were carefully selected to echo the company’s identity and the values each award represents.
Seen up close, the depth and precision of the engraving reveal not only the technical artistry, but also the deep respect for the people these awards are meant to honor.

Here’s a look at some of the early concepts, award form studies, and graphic compositions we developed for Milliken.
The Foundation: Our Figura Trapezium Award
For the Milliken HONORS series, we began with one of our signature forms—the architectural Figura Trapezium Award.
With its bold, geometric silhouette symbolizing stability and progress, it offered the perfect canvas for Milliken’s story to unfold.
For this collaboration, we used a reversed version of the design, where the trapezoidal nameplate becomes an arrow pointing forward—a subtle but powerful gesture honoring the momentum of those who lead, innovate, and elevate the company’s future.

We proudly design and craft each of our unique awards in the USA, in our Austin, Texas studio. From solid North American hardwoods to precision detailing and finishing by hand, our sustainable process supports our economy, ethical production, and the highest quality standards.
