Back to EAST!

The weekends of the East Austin Studio Tour are some of our favorites of the year, and we’re thrilled to be participating in this event for the second time.

We invite you to visit us at our studio space at the Pump Project Satellite. We’d love to introduce you to our team and give you a behind-the-scenes look at how our awards are designed. We’ll display some of our sketches, drawings, and design models so you can see how much care and love goes into our work.

If you’re new to TROPHYOLOGY, we have a distinctive mission: Giving the award and recognition industry a design update. We believe awards and milestone gifts should reflect the caliber of the achievement being honored and at the same time communicate the values of the presenter.

We also believe there’s something special about seeing TROPHYOLOGY awards in person. The “TROPHYOLOGY difference” really shines through when you get a chance to view the artisan craftsmanship and quality materials of our made-in-the-USA awards up-close. When you hold a TROPHOLOGY award, you sense the heft that conveys the significance of achievement. We are very proud of our great working relationships with Austin based artisans who will also open their doors for EAST. Be sure to say hello to Mark Macek at the Splintergroup and Michael Yates at Fort Tillery – they not only expertly craft our awards and gifts, they are talented furniture designers and makers in their own right and you don’t want to miss visiting them.

Of course we’re also very excited about our immediate neighbors at the Pump Project Satellite. When you visit us, please also take some time to explore the work of MakeATX. Make ATX is a fabrication workshop and laser cutting cooperative lead by Eve Trestor-Wilson and Kristen van Minden. TROPHYOLOGY is a member of the coop and we truly enjoy using the laser cutters for some of our engraving and design work.  If you are in the market for some holiday gifts, you will love exploring Kristen and Eve’s beautiful jewelry, cards, and gifts. (We already started our shopping at their shop.) Artist Laurie Frick will be a special guest at the MakeATX space. Laurie is known for tracking data about herself and turning it into striking handbuilt installations. TheWomen Printmakers will also open their doors during EAST. Elizabeth and Seth of aesthetiacs have just returned from oversees and will open their studio doors in our building. There will be other work displayed in the Flex Space of the building as well, so this will be a rich stop on the tour. While you are in the neighborhood, check out Ginko Studio where one of our metal collaborators Colin McIntyre will show his artwork as well as one of our favorite Austin potters, Melanie Schopper. Excited to see all this good work? So are we! We look forward to seeing you!

TROPHYOLOGY clients include Austin Energy Green Building, AIA Austin, the Texas Society of Architects, and Design Within Reach Austin. We are the recipient of a 2012 Austin Energy Innovative Practice Award from the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
